Ronnie J Willis
Scholarship Award
This award is
named in honor of Ronnie J Willis. Ronnie was an member of the KY
Branch AALAS and a certified Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician
employed at the University of Kentucky. He lost his life as the result of
an accident in May of 1993. Ronnie set an example for others to follow, by
doing everything he did to the best of his ability with unbounded
enthusiasm.
The purpose of this award
is to encourage certification of laboratory animal technicians and provide
a funding source for a qualified candidate who is unable to acquire
funding through his or her place of employment.
Applications should be returned to the KY
Branch AALAS Awards Chair by February 14th.
CRITERIA for KY BRANCH AALAS
RONNIE J. WILLIS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
1. The candidate must be a member in good
standing of Kentucky Branch AALAS. If necessary, national membership for
one year at the bronze level will be paid by the Branch.
2. The candidate must submit the one page
application form to the KY Branch Awards Committee Chair by February 14th.
Explanation of financial need and benefits to you should be included only
on the space provided on the form. Do not attach additional sheets.
3. The scholarship will be awarded at the
Annual Awards Banquet in December. The certification test must be taken
within the following year.
4. The awards selection committee shall
select the awardee with priority based in the following order: 1)
financial need; 2) benefits of certification; 3) branch participation.
5. In the event that no nominations are
received, or none of the candidates are deemed qualified, no award will be
presented. In the event multiple applications are deemed qualified, the
committee shall seek board approval for more than one awardee.
6. Awardee must meet testing level
requirements and will be responsible for processing any application forms
before deadlines. The awardee shall seek allocated funds from the KY
Branch Treasurer when required. Any checks will be made out directly to
the testing agency and not the awardee. |
